Start with an SNU pre-designed rubric.

The CLI Team has built rubrics for several assignment types. If you would like to discuss which rubric might be the best option for you to start with, schedule a Canvas Consult. We can share rubrics with you through Canvas, allowing you easy access to edit as needed. We can also help you start from scratch, if that is what you prefer to do.

Start with a VALUE rubric.

The VALUE rubrics, provided by the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AACU), were developed by teams of faculty experts representing colleges and universities across the United States.

The VALUE rubrics are open educational resources (OER) that enable educators to assess students’ original work. AAC&U offers a proven methodology for applying the VALUE rubrics to evaluate student performance reliably and verifiably across broad, cross-cutting learning outcomes.

The rubrics articulate fundamental criteria for related learning outcomes and include performance indicators demonstrating progressively more sophisticated levels of attainment.

NOTE: These rubrics can and should be translated into the language of individual campuses, disciplines, and even courses.
