Accessibility

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)  prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities in employment, transportation, public accommodation, communications, and governmental activities. The ADA also establishes requirements for telecommunications relay services. SNU is in the process of making sure our courses are accessible for all students. One major component of this is ensuring that all videos provide captioning.

The SNU Disability Statement must be included in all syllabi and is found in the SNU Syllabus Template.  We are legally obligated to inform students of their rights, provide accommodations and treat them fairly. Once a student makes contact with Disability Services, faculty should receive an accommodation notice detailing what they must offer for the student.

Note: Faculty cannot ask a student if he/she has a disability. She/he must self-disclose.  A student should only self-disclose to the 504 compliance officer. If a student self-discloses to a faculty member, the faculty member should point them to the disability and 504 services information in the syllabus and the disability services website.
